One Room Challenge : Week 4 - Few Girly Touches

I appreciate the support, and also encouragement from my readers, during the past few weeks. As you may, or may not know, I am decorating my 'soon to be' seven year old daughter's bedroom. We are now in week four of the One Room Challenge, with only two short weeks left to go.

I am happy to report that I received most of the items I ordered online. I love the new line of accessories I found at Kirklands. Some of these beauties came home to me:-).

I also received the Ikea malm - 6 drawer dresser. My hubby picked it up on the weekend. I like its functionality; deep drawers, easy slides, and not to mention its height. It is just perfect for my little one.

The closet wall was taped for painting. (I assigned my husband this job). He works at his own pace. :-)

This is one of two Pottery Barn Knockoffs I completed.

Finally, I picked up this trim to be used on the curtains, and scored some great sale items at Target (to be shared on reveal day).

That will be all for today. I only checked off two additional items from my list but I believe I have made satisfactory progress.

Girly Fabrics - One Room Challenge Week 3

We are now in week three of the One Room Challenge, which pushes us half way closer to the finished line :-) The bedding items I ordered for my daughter's bedroom, arrived last Friday. I must add, how pleased I am with the combination of colors they afford me to work with.

Presently, I eat, sleep, and think One Room Challenge. My duties over the past week involved sewing fabric, gluing fabric, and stapling fabric :-) It was all about fabric.

Originally, my plan included making a pretty pouf for the room. I was inspired by these lovelies found all over the 'web'.

My printer is out of service at the moment and I honestly feared not getting the pattern right, even if I tried to copy by hand. So guess what I did, I "chickened" out :-) . We had two ottomans that were used in just about every single room of our house. I quickly decided to reupholster them using this fabric instead.

I also worked on another project that has a serious connection to these fabrics and accessories. Hint: To be hung on the wall :-)

Finally, I ordered and received a few art prints for my wall from here.

Girl's Bedroom - ORC Week Two

This is now the second week of the One Room Challenge linkup. I am very excited to see everything come together.

Well, I made some progress during the past week.

I ordered this comforter set for the bed, which unfortunately for me, is not sold with the advertised bed skirt. When I checked online, it was out of stock in the size needed :-(
I am uncertain as to whether or not it will be restocked, but no worries, I will find a way to make it work :-)

Goodwill price

I also found this amazing mirror at my local Goodwill. The price was right, and I could not believe someone had not snatched it up before I came along. I am contemplating a horizontal placement, above my daughter's {not yet purchased :-) } dresser.

I saw and fell in love with the MALM 6-drawer dresser  in white, sold by Ikea. Its smooth running drawers with pull out stop is what got me. I tested the drawers while at the store, and was amazed my how easily they slid in and out. This dresser is very practical for a child's room, in my opinion.

ONE ROOM CHALLENGE LINKING PARTY - The Plan for my Daughter's Bedroom

I just cannot believe the time has finally come for us to participate in another One Room Challenge. A big thanks goes out again to Linda, our gracious host.

For this challenge, I will be decorating my 6 year old daughter's bedroom. I painted the room four years ago {yes, that long:-) }. Sadly, to date, there are no accessories on the wall, no bed covering, and also no storage unit. My daughter loves the wall color, but requests I make the room fun and "girly". I would also like to incorporate another color, or two, to add dimension to the space.
